Billie Eilish is making headway in the music industry as one of the youngest global pop phenomenon’s of this decade. At 17 the Los Angeles born singer/songwriter has debuted a best selling debut single, released a debut EP reaching more than 750 million streams worldwide and is currently touring sold out headlining tours across the globe. She currently sits at the 6th most listened to artists in the world on Spotify with more than 44 million listeners world wide.

Billie Eilish is a new sound in my playlist and someone I’ve enjoyed discovering the sound of. Her softly spoken voice paired with simple piano melodies and guitar chords allow for a simplistic yet beautiful sound. I particularly enjoy her lyrics and how articulate she is for her age. As a fairly new face I haven’t had the pleasure of watching her perform live however, If I can snag a ticket to the upcoming Groovin the Moo Festival in Australia I might be able to change that. For now she is a very talented young artist who has caught my attention.

This is my favourite live clip of Billie Eilish  mainly due to the paired back simplicity of the performance. Her voice is effortlessly perfect and the harmonies from brother “Finneas O’Connell” compliment the vibe of the song. Filmed back in 2018 on Australian radio station “Triple J” for “Like a Version” shows the young talent extending her market into Australia and gaining popularity across the world. At 16 years old I could’ve only dreamed of doing something like this!

I stumbled upon this video about a week ago and found it to be one of the best artist interviews I had seen in a very long time. The video takes the same interview Eilish did in 2017 at 15 years old and asks her the same questions one year later. The growth of this artist is what fascinates me the most and this video sums up how the music industry can take you from your bedroom to a crowd of thousands so very quickly.

 

Billie’s experience in Aus thus far

Unless you’ve been under a rock or don’t watch your Instagram and Snap stories you’d know that Billie Eilish has performed at music festival Groovin the Moo and has performed her touring show around the country this month. In this clip taken from Triple J Eilish surprises her Australian fans by Face timing them and answering some of their unique questions. It’s difficult to remember that this music sensation is still only so young however, I love her connection with her fans and how she relates with so many young people today especially through a fun interview like this.
