Australian twin’s Cosmo and Pat Liney formed back in 2012 in Sydney playing fun electronic music mixed with spicy R&B and pop elements. Debuting their first track “Phantasm” featuring “Nicole Miller” in 2013, the duo have worked on their sound since and bought out a truly epic debut album “What comes next” in 2018 reaching top 40 on the ARIA albums chart. The pair are selling out shows across Australia amidst their national tour and I am very excited to say they are at the top of my list to see perform later this year at Splendour in the Grass.

Their funky, upbeat and catchy melodies drew me into the duo’s music early this year and they have been played at almost every social gathering since. This is a duo I can always rely on to perk up the mood of the crowd and get everyone shuffling in their seats. “Confidence” and “Polarised” from the debut album are my two favourites for their smooth, catchy, yet unique sounds. I’m very excited to follow these two brothers into the future and in my humble opinion are ones to watch!

If you live in Brisbane and you’ve just discovered the awesome duo I’m afraid you’ve just missed them perform. Cosmo’s Midnight performed a killer hour set at one of Brisbane’s best music venue’s The Tivoli on Friday the 3rd of May. From the video’s I saw on my friends snapchat stories the duo’s fun party beats created an electric vibe in the crowd. I couldn’t make this one but I’m hopeful their performance at Splendour in the Grass matches their latest Brisbane show.

This interview caught my attention due to the rawness displayed by the brothers explaining how they defined their sound and how they took inspiration from other artists to create cool and inspired music. The interview gives insight into the growth the duo have experienced from their debut seven years ago.

Triple J’s “Like a Version” is something I look forward to every Friday so when I heard one of my favourite up and coming duo’s were taking the stage I waited for the end of the week in anticipation. Of course the boys came with the goods and performed with an amazing ensemble their popular single “C.U.D.I (Can you did it)”. The bongos and cow bell elements to this performance are a highlight and show the versatility of Cosmo’s Midnight. I love hearing peculiar instruments like the mark tree to add a little extra flavour to a track and considering most of the instruments played in this performance can just as easily be sourced digitally it’s very refreshing to hear it all work together in a live space.
