Tame Impala

Tame Impala is one of Australia’s most celebrated psychedelic rock band to perform in the last decade. Led by front man and producer, Kevin Parker the band of five have produced four albums since debuting in 2007. After releasing their most recent album “Currents” in 2015 Tame Impala have returned to the music scene with new tracks “Patience” and “Borderline” making way for the release of a new album this year. The bands down to earth vibe and never ending melodies drew me into the bands amazing music in 2010 and I have been hot on their tail ever since.

Here you’ll find some of their latest performances at Coachella 2019 as well as an older live clip performing a tune from older debut album “Innerspeaker”. Also catch an interview of the boys showing off their playful personalities and if you’re as big a fan as I, there are a few upcoming shows listed for you to hurry off and buy your tickets to.

humble beginings

Taking it back nine years to the humble beginnings of the band playing “Solitude is Bliss” from debut album “Innerspeaker” at Camp Nowhere festival in 2010. This video is an ode to the growth off Tame Impala showing their versatility in starting off as a very much psychedelic, rock band to more recently dabbling in the funk and synth genre. This clip shows their progression as a band and again shows off my love for their ability to never be pigeonholed into one category of music.

coachella 2019

In April 2019 Tame Impala headlined world class popular music desert festival, Coachella. Along with the rest of the world who couldn’t afford tickets and fly to California for the live gig I watched on from home as Youtube streamed the entire performance. It was the first new piece of footage I’d seen of the band this year and was truly impressed by the quality and overall headlining performance the band gave. They played a diverse mix of popular songs from all four of their albums as well as performing their two new tracks for this first time at a music festival this year. “New Person, Same Old Mistakes” is one of my favourites from third album “Currents” and it is performed to perfection in this clip. The simplicity of their performances and focus surrounding the quality of music they are playing is what will always draw me into this bands live shows.

Live interview

Never taking the music industry too seriously, front man “Kevin Parker” and drummer “Jay Watson” let their playful Aussie personalities charm interviewers at CMJ TV.
